Meet Adrienne Dickerson
Hampton c/o 1998 (early grad)- ONYX IV
Administrator/Psychotherapist
I always knew what career path that I wanted to take. However, the skills that I learned at Hampton provided the foundation that was needed.
My dear friend who is like a big sister is also an HU grad told me about it. I visited for high school day and I was sold!
My professors were amazing. I never had a black teacher until attending HU. They took a vested interest in my learning. I learned so much history as well as the friendships that I built there are lifelong.
I learned about who I am as a blank woman and how I have the power to change the world around me despite the obstacles that I would face.
I enjoy traveling, shopping, sports, painting, and spending time with my loved ones.

Hampton c/o 1998 - Ogre Phi Ogre VI
My older sister graduated from Hampton in 1984 and I visited each year while she was a student. I was considering Temple University, Howard University, Morehouse College and Hampton but when I visited Hampton, I knew it was the place for me.
Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools
The School of Education was small enough that our professors worked with us to be successful. Those relationships were important and I work hard to establish strong relationships and partnerships with colleagues and staff. The professors cared and pushed us, and those experiences shaped me to do the same with my students and colleagues. I serve as a mentor to other educators, administrators and superintendents and I enjoy providing support to these individuals who are serving in challenging positions.
My favorite memory was taking Shellie to my senior ball and then driving to Washington DC to spend the weekend with my family. We have been together since that time and will be celebrating 30 years of marriage on June 20, 2022.
Hampton helped me to become more independent while being three hours away from home. I learned to manage my time, seek assistance from my advisor and professors, join clubs, and meet classmates from different states and cultures. My professors held us to a standard of excellence and did not accept excuses. Hampton taught me to work hard and continue my education. Now years later, I credit Hampton for building that strong foundation in order for me to hold many positions in education such as teacher, resource teacher, assistant principal, principal, executive assistant, community superintendent and now a superintendent of schools. Education for life is true for me personally and professionally.
I love music and have written original gospel songs. I enjoy attending sporting events and watching Law and Order, 48 hours, Chicago PD, and Judge Judy. I enjoy working out at the gym and learning to cook with the assistance of my wife, Shellie. I love to travel and would love to visit all HBCUs and return to Colombia, South America where I was an exchange student during the summer of my sophomore year in high school.
I am a member of the Baltimore Branch of NAACP; Hampton Alumni Association of Baltimore County; the School Club of Washington DC; AASA-The School Superintendents Association; Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc; University of Maryland College Park School of Education Alumni Board; College Board Superintendents Advisory Board; and PSSAM-Public School Superintendents Association of Maryland. Shellie and I are members of Cornerstone Church of God in Columbia, Maryland where we serve as praise and worship leaders.

Meet Tina Williams, MD
Hampton c/o 1982 - OPHIO IV
Board Certified Emergency Physician; Currently working for Mercy Hospital as the lead physician in the Baltimore County Business Health Services where I take care of injured First Responders
My father Dr. Ja A. Jahannes was an Education professor so I grew up on the campus. My favorite memory as a student was going to the little cafeteria for breakfast in the morning. This was a great way to start the day. It was peaceful.
I think Hampton taught me to be proud of what I do and to persevere. Hampton prepared me for the real world of being Black and female in America.
My Hampton years gave me lifelong friends. I became an AKA at Hampton, Gamma Theta chapter, in the Spring of 1980. I am still very active in my local chapter here in Baltimore, Rho Xi Omega.
It means I can continue to support Hampton and meet new Alumni members.
I am an avid vegetable gardener. I also own a 25 foot sailboat that I keep in Fells Point. I love the water.
